“The Moon Lodge was a very powerful and meaningful experience for me.  I felt great transformation during and after this sacred gathering of women… Patrice Shakti is a true sacred space holder.  She was strong, present, and also vulnerable with her own truth.  She inspired me to dig deep in my heart and speak the truth that lived there…My tears were shed in a safe space, my voice heard, my story witnessed…..and this brought about true healing… I found relief and tenderness at this Lodge.  I encourage all women with any longing for authenticity, connection, and healing to attend a Moon Lodge.  The power of a woman’s circle lead by Patrice Shakti is a true gift to every woman’s soul. ~ Beth Burcham, www.bethburchamtherapy.com

More on the Moon Lodge ~

In most indigenous cultures around the globe, the New Moon is considered to be a sacred healing time set aside for women. In many Native American tribes as well as other tribal cultures, there was/is a separate Moon Lodge space, to which all women go during the dark time of the Womb/Moon. Since most women menstruated at the same time (women who live together, often bleed together) during the dark of the moon, the grandmothers and fathers took care of the children and village/household tasks. Food was left outside the Lodge several times a day so that the women could focus their power.

Women during menstruation were/are considered in these earth honoring cultures, to hold a rare and certain power with a responsibility to honor that. If a woman continues her normal routine at menstruation, she loses a uniquely female opportunity for introspection and Powerful Monthly Sight. (P.M.S.) When we dishonor this opportunity and gift, we may find that we become weary, irritable, and upset because our physical rhythm has slowed us down and we are resisting it.

The New Moon, has been a dedicated woman’s healing time for thousands of years. It is our time to be together without daily responsibilities or interruptions, to do what women do best together ~ move, emote, listen, dance, connect, sing, pray, and heal.
