The Womb Medicine Project
The Womb Medicine Project is vision that was born from my own healing journey as well as the work I’ve been doing for years with the women of my community. Through women’s circles, mothers groups, women’s rituals, and private healing sessions, my work has been to hold sacred space for women exploring and expressing within the body, the grief we carry as women, as well as our triumphant, creative feminine power. To sit, stand, dance, sing, weep, and pray with women in this kind of potency, has been for the benefit of my own healing as much as it has been for theirs.
Through this work, a discovery was made of what I now call, The Collective Womb. The Collective Womb is the sacred space within where we journey to as women, to find the strength we need to carry forth our visions for ourselves and our world. This is a timeless space within where we carry the souls of our babies, and not only our own untold stories, but those of the feminine collective as well. In my definition, the womb itself is not a physical location within a woman’s body, but rather a soul space located within a woman’s center of being. The Collective Womb then, is a soul space that is at the center of the feminine collective consciousness.
The Womb Medicine Project is an artistic exploration and an “art therapy” of sorts as a healing ritual theater piece about and for the Collective Womb. This piece’s debut performance is tentatively scheduled for Autumn, 2010, but the length of gestation is unknown. The Womb Medicine Project is a provocative exploration of the collective grief that we carry as women about abortion, miscarriage, infertility, and birth; as well as the the strength of women to overcome these challenges, finding power and healing medicine for ourselves and the collective.

If you are a female artist of any kind and would like to participate in the creation of this vision and/or perform in the debut performance, please email me with your statement of interest to the email address below.
If you are a woman who would like to share your womb story to be used anonymously as a catalyst for healing the collective, please email or call me with a brief description of your story. Your story will be carefully and confidentially “collected” with healing support available at the time of your sharing. I am particularly looking for womb-centered stories which are untold, provocative, taboo, and potent with challenge and/or triumph.

Thank you for your support and encouragement as I embark. This is a soul task of the greatest magnitude that I have encountered in my career so far. I am afraid do do what I know I must, but I’m willing, and I know that I’m able.
Bless,
